Bournemouth Introduction to Archery courses are a fun and an easy way for beginners to have a complete introduction to the sport.

The course runs over three consecutive weeks of 3 hours per session with tea and coffee breaks. Courses are either run outdoors on our outdoor range at the Bournemouth University Sports Campus at Chapel Gate, or indoors in the Gun Club’s indoor range again at Chapel Gate.

What You Can Expect from Us:

Over the three sessions you’ll get a general overview of target archery, including safety, etiquette, and bow types.

We’ll teach you the basic techniques of Olympic recurve shooting, as well as provide demonstrations of the Olympic recurve, Compound bow, Barebow and Longbow.

Tailored Equipment:

We have Olympic recurve style equipment for you to use which we ensure is set up so that it suits you.

Personalised Coaching:

Our Archery GB-certified coaches lead the courses, ensuring you’re in safe hands. The club’s insurance covers all attendees; we also equip you with everything you need for the course. We only have 12 people on each course so that everyone gets plenty of individual attention as well as group tuition.

Age Limits for Juniors:

We do have a minimum age for juniors which is 12 years old on our normal courses, but we run a special course in the summer for families and juniors from 10 years old. Please note that all juniors up to the age of 18 have to be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult on every session.

Clothing Requirements:

Please dress appropriately for our outdoor/indoor ranges in non-baggy clothing, and wear closed-toe shoes for safety.

After Completion of the Course:

There is an opportunity after successful completion of your course to join the club and continue your archery journey. Please note that all three sessions of the course have to be completed.

You can hire very good quality equipment from us so you can move onto development sessions before deciding about purchasing your own equipment.
